Ditch the 'Glowing Rectangles'

According to a new study by boffins at Stanford University subsequently reported by news site The Onion, the average American spends 90% of his or her life staring at “glowing rectangles”. A quick glance round reveals just what they mean. Add up the time you spend watching television, films and computer games then add in time spent looking at your smart phone, PC, digital signage or portable media player and you can see how those sums might add up.

It would be easy to pigeonhole the report into a nice neat box called “American culture”. However, it wouldn’t take much honesty to conclude that this frightening statistic would probably be replicated in many other countries too.

You too can read the whole report on your very own “glowing rectangle”. Or, perhaps you go make straight for the perfect antidote and turn on some music instead!
